A 10 ten ton block of granite was quarried by Keystone Memorials in Elberton, Georgia, USA and sawn into two 5 ton blocks, each ready to be carved by well known Athens GA sculptor Stan Mullins.
The Hands of Respect were commissioned to be a tangible example of the symbol for Respect.
The Hands of Respect were unveiled by the children from The Renaissance Learning Center (also known as the Beacon of Hope).
